620 dispensing pump increases accuracyA biotech firm in Seattle, WA was using a direct driven pumphead controlled by an on/off switch to dispense media into one liter bottles. Since the control was done with a manual switch there was an issue of accuracy and ease of use which lead the firm to look for an alternative. After Watson-Marlow suggested the 620 dispensing pump as a peristaltic solution, a demo pump was provided for a two week trial.

The dispensing accuracy was found to be a very attractive feature of the 620Di pump. The +/- 0.5 % accuracy reduced product waste and improved the system reliability. Users were also able to carry out periodic dose recalibration 'on-the-fly' without disturbing the flow of the batch, again saving time and increasing production. Also, the 620’s 50 available dispensing programs eliminated the manual manipulation that had previously been required with the on/off switch, which decreased the total maintenance costs.
