Sony keeps Watson-Marlow pumps in the picture

Sony Manufacturing Company UK uses Watson-Marlow peristaltic pumps in production of its Trinitron television tubes.

As tubes are moved into position by an automated production line, sensors signal the pumps to begin feeding a solution of carbon GA-3 7, potassium silicate, and silicon carbide to a sponge bead which coats the necks of the tubes.

The Watson-Marlow peristaltic pumps replaced gear pumps, significantly reducing maintenance costs, and eliminating the need to import costly spare parts.
